Noel's Homepage - My Background Hi, my name is Noel Tointon, and I live in Sydney and in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. Originally from New Zealand. Born 6.12.50 (18:15) in Dunedin. Attended Otago, Massey, Victoria (Wellington) and Macquarie Universities. Have a PhD. from the latter in philosophy. Have many interests - Eastern and Western forms of philosophy, Religious Philosophy (especially Buddhist Mahayana and see myself as primarily a Buddhist for the last 30 odd years), Eastern art (esp. Chinese painting and porcelain, Japanese prints), Western art (esp. painting), theatre and film, history and politics, music (esp. Classical and Baroque , Early Music (esp. early keyboard music)), poetry (and enjoy writing the same), bushwalking, good conversation, scientific subjects (e.g., theoretical physics, astronomy), and many other topics. Currently studying Sanskrit. As a gay person I have a particular interest in cultural studies relating to the same. For a number of years have been an organizer of a poetry group (meeting first Sunday of the month, important public holidays excepted, currently suspended, and, a philosophy group (meeting second Sunday of the month at 4.00pm). Both groups are arranged as a meeting where we can sit down and discuss the texts put forward in depth and ask the author/poet what they are trying to attempt in their production (bringing photocopies appreciated).
